A major upgrade to the 231 Capitol Ave. building’s electrical system will be done on August 5 - 6, 2006 with the following impacts:
1) The State Library and the Museum of Connecticut History will be closed on Sat. Aug. 5.
2) The State Library’s Web sites will be offline for the duration of the work, beginning Fri. Aug. 4 at 5:00 p.m. until Mon. Aug. 7 at approximately 8:00 a.m.
3) Emails to the State Library staff will not be accepted, and senders may receive “undeliverable” messages. Please re-send any e-mails that are returned on Monday, Aug. 7.
4) The phone system, including voice mail, will be shut down, resulting in a rapid busy signal.

On a trial basis between Monday July 17 and Friday Sept. 29, a third daily retrieval at 12 noon has been added. This retrieval is for ONSITE Archives and Secured Collections materials only (including aerial photographs).

iCONN is now offering History & Science Reference Centers to the state’s residents. The new HRC database offers full text for more than 270,000 entries from a myriad of historical sources (from primary sources, as well as magazines, journals, and other reference materials, even streaming video!). The Science Reference Center contains nearly 640 full-text titles from leading scientific encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, biographies & images. Go to www.iconn.org to try them out!
