Facts on File, Inc. has created this fascinating database which includes anything you’d want to know about American Indian History. Of particular interest are the “Learning Centers by Era” that start with Beginnings to 1775: Native Societies, First Contact, and the Colonial Era, through the present featuring Contemporary Issues. This rich database can be accessed remotely by patrons using their CSL library card. The major subject categories include Biographies, Events and Topics, Primary Sources (including treaties), Maps and Charts and an Image Gallery. A unique feature is the “Editor’s Selection of the Month” which gives each of us the opportunity to an in-depth look at one particular topic.

A biographical sketch of Governor Samuel Huntington is the latest to be revised, digitized, and posted on our web site. The online biography includes an image of Governor Huntington’s portrait, which hangs in the Museum of Connecticut History.
The State Library has long had a set of typewritten biographical sketches of Connecticut’s governors. Written by various State Library staff and kept in a notebook in the History and Genealogy unit, these biographies cover the personal and political lives of our governors. We are revising, updating, and digitizing these biographies, and linking them to the images of the gubernatorial portrait if there is one.
