State Capital Universe is a Lexis-Nexis product providing coverage of all fifty states. In addition to the database being updated continuously, the ability to search individually as well as hand selected groups makes this an efficient search tool. Clicking on the “List of Links” reveals state by state links to each state’s “State Legislature”, “Governor’s office” and “State Agencies/Commissions”. A list of Association Sites such as the “Council of State Governments” and the “National Conference of State Legislatures” follows the state sites. One link that is heavily used is “Newspapers of Record” which is again broken down by state. Examples of coverage in State Capital Universe are bills and laws, constitutions, proposed and enacted regulations, articles about legislative issues affecting the states and legislature membership.
