State Library Closed Friday for Statewide Furlough Day Thursday, May 21, 2009

Due to the state’s difficult budget times, all Connecticut State Library facilities will be closed on Friday as part of a statewide furlough day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, May26th (following the Memorial Day holiday).
From Governor M. Jodi Rell’s memo to state agency directors:
“As you know, we are facing difficult budget times in Connecticut. As a result the recently signed SEBAC agreement calls for an unpaid furlough day on Friday, May 22nd. All agencies must adhere to the agreement other than those who must maintain 24/7 operations.”
Are the Saturday hours at the State Library going to be cut as part of budget cutting? Hope not – us “Saturday people” that work love using it on Saturdays.
I’ve just checked in with the State Librarian, Kendall Wiggin, and current plans do not call for closing on Saturday, but there may be some cut backs during the week. We’ll do our best to keep everyone informed & to maintain the highest possible access and quality of service for all State Library visitors. Thank you for your interest & continued use of the State Library & its website.
