Public Acts Effective January 1 2010

It’s that time of year again…acts that were passed in CT’s General Assembly during the 2009 session have different effective dates.  They can be effective immediately upon passage or become law based on any date legislators and the Legislative Commissioner’s Office decide.  However, the vast majority are either October 1st or Jan 1st.  For over 10 years, Jean Kincaid Ross here in the CT State Library’s Bill Room compiled a list of these effective dates grouped by month.  These indexes are available on our website back to 2004.

Within the last year, the CT General Assembly has begun compiling these indexes so the State Library now has the luxury of simply linking to their latest index.  However, this being the State Library, we are always looking to ensure that research  sources, both print and digital, are preserved for posterity.  So in addition to linking to these indexes now created by the General Assembly, we will be exploring the prospect of digitally archiving them for permanent public access.
