This year’s session of the Connecticut General Assembly marks the 29th anniversary of the legislative internship program in the Bill Room at the Connecticut State Library. The legislative internship program is offered every year during the legislative session and is a unique cooperative effort with the Connecticut General Assembly’s Office of Legislative Management. In return for the CT State Library receiving legislative documents each year and archiving them for permanent public access, the legislature funds this position. Most importantly, this relationship allows the intern and two separate branches of government to mutually assist and benefit one another.
The legislative intern is paid as a seasonal employee by the Connecticut General Assembly but works exclusively at the Connecticut State Library. This year’s aide, Meaghan Murphy is pursuing a career in librarianship. In addition to working with us, she also works part time at the City of Springfield Public Library in Massachusetts.
