June 14 is Flag Day. According to the 2007 edition of “Our Flag” (Senate document 109-18 available here and also as Serial Set 14999, p. 40
), the Stars and Stripes first flew in a Flag Day celebration in Hartford, Connecticut in 1861, during the first summer of the Civil War.
The first national observance of Flag Day occurred June 14, 1877, the centennial of the original flag resolution.
So Connecticut residents can fly Old Glory with local as well as national pride on Flag Day
