State Archives Receives Irving J. Stolberg Papers Thursday, July 5, 2012

The State Archives received a donation of Irving J. Stolberg Papers, circa 1968-1994. Stolberg (1936-2009), a Democrat, served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1970 to 1992 representing New Haven’s 93rd District. He served as Speaker of the House from 1983-1984 and 1987-1988. The Papers includes correspondence, legislative material, campaign material, press releases, news clippings, pamphlets, and memorabilia totaling approximately 35 cubic feet. The State Archives holds an additional 3 cubic feet of Stolberg’s legislative files, 1987-1992. The gift came to the Connecticut State Library from Stolberg’s son, Robert Stolberg.
