The Connecticut State Historical Records Advisory Board has led the initiative on Connecticut Archives Month since 2005.  Connecticut Archives Month is an annual opportunity to raise awareness about the value of Connecticut’s historical records, archives and archivists.  Governor Dannel P. Malloy has issued a proclamation recognizing October 2011 as Connecticut Archives Month.

In 2005, several states decided to celebrate the American record with an archives month.  The Society of American Archivists (SAA) has taken the leadership in assisting the states to make American Archives Month a truly national celebration.  For more information and resources about American Archives Month visit the SAA American Archives Month 2011 website.

This year the Connecticut State Historical Records Advisory Board is again providing an opportunity for Connecticut’s archival repositories to share information about their activities in October.  Organizations can send press releases or other information about ways in which they will be raising awareness of the public and resource allocators during this October.  The information received by organizations will be posted to the State Library’s News from CSL blog.

Send announcements to the State Archivist Mark Jones at Mark.H.Jones@ct.gov.
